What is dog daycare?

Our dog daycare program offers supervised play for well-socialized dogs in our secure yards with our trained staff while you are at work, school or just enjoying a day trip. Dogs are monitored and allowed to play with their friends or take a break from the action, as they wish. During the summer months, our dogs are routinely offered access to our air-conditioned facility, so they may cool down and take a break. During the winter months, they are offered inside access to warm up. Our facility's generator ensures that, no matter what the weather, your dog will always remain comfortable while staying with us.

Our daycare program is broken down by size and activity level of the dogs with group sizes of approximately 15 dogs per daycare attendant. No harsh methods or corrections are ever used with any dog in our care. We pride ourselves in providing the opportunity for safe, supervised play for all dogs who wish to participate in group activities. Our yards contain objects that the dogs can climb on and through to help challenge their bodies and their brains. 

Dogs who attend daycare will be tired at the end of the day! Some dogs enjoy rougher play with their friends and occasionally scrapes and bumps will happen. We cannot guarantee that your dog will never be injured, but we can guarantee they will have fun!

Need daycare but your dog doesn’t enjoy playing with other dogs? No problem! We offer private daycare as well and our staff will play with your dog and offer them companionship for the day with no dog social pressure! Private daycare slots are limited, so book your days early to ensure your dog’s spot.

DAYCARE Requirements

We require an initial meet & greet to introduce your dog to our facility, our staff, and evaluate them with 1-3 other dogs, if appropriate. This will give us an idea if your dog will fit well in our daycare program. We will schedule you to come in on a weekday (Monday-Friday) and drop your dog off between 9 and 10 AM and plan to pick them up between 1 and 2 PM. This will give us plenty of time to get to know your dog.

After the meet & greet, we recommend 3 subsequent daycare visits (either half-days or full-days) a week or so apart. This will give your dog time to “miss us” and make sure they are not overwhelmed. As long as those subsequent daycare days go well, your dog will be fully enrolled in our daycare program. We will offer suggestions for daycare days that are a good fit for your dog or let you know if they will fit in any day of the week.

vaccinations and spay/neuter requirements

All clients must provide proof from a veterinarian of current immunizations including: Distemper/Parvo, Rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough). Your vet may fax your dog's records to us at 207-495-6066 or email them to us at inn@willowrunfordogs.com. Vaccination records must be sent to us prior to your dog’s visit.

PLEASE NOTE: If your dog has never received the Bordetella vaccine or is more than a month out of date, the Bordetella vaccine must be administered at least two (2) weeks prior to your dog's daycare stay with us. This ensures that your dog has built up antibodies prior to their visit.

Positive serum antibody titers in lieu of documented vaccinations are acceptable.

Any dog who does not have proof of vaccinations cannot stay with us. 

Sexually mature dogs (6 months and older for most breeds) must be spayed or neutered.

Drop-off and pick-up times

We are open for daycare 6 days a week between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. You may drop off and pick up your dog anytime between these hours. Please call ahead or email us at inn@willowrunfordogs.com to let us know your dog is coming! Dogs must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. If your dog is picked up after 6:00 p.m., you will be charged a $15 late pick-up fee. Dogs who are not picked up by 6:15 p.m. will be slated to board for the night and you will be charged boarding applicable boarding fees.

How to calculate pricing

We calculate pricing by how long your dog is with us. We note the time you drop off your dog and the time you pick up.
- A full day is 6 hours or more and is $35.
- A half day is less than 6 hours and is $25.

Holiday accommodations
Please book your holiday, school vacation, and summertime dates well in advance. We often fill very fast for these highly-requested times and will do our best to accommodate your dates. However, it is always best to reserve your dates as soon as you know them.
